After getting rid of the bulkhead that separates the cab from the back of the van, adding seats that convert to a bed, and adding windows we set our sights on the next phase of our campervan conversion.

In this phase, we took our van 2 and a half hours up north to Huddersfield. We took our van to a company called CandHcampers so that they can make one significant change to our van that is enough to label the van as in stage 2. They added a poptop.

What is a poptop?

This is a game-changer and changes how we use the vehicle. A poptop is a bed at roof level whereby the top of the roof is on hinges and opens at an angle to allow people to sleep at roof level. This add a second bed to the setup.

It features three windows. The two on either side allow for light, but also ventilation through its netted texture. The third window located at the front is a sealed window offering views ahead and again bringing in light to what is otherwise a dark part of the van.

In addition to this, the bed section can be opened up to the same position as the raised roof allowing us to stand up inside! Since we owned the van we have only been able to squat or crouch over when moving around in the van, but with the poptop we can actually stand upright inside of it!
