We are currently in progress with phase 3. This phase is entirely DIY and, this phase is all about interior aesthetics. The poptop gave the van a little touch of a carpeted interior much like our cars that we all drive. Unfortunately the rest of the van still has the builder’s van vibe with exposed blue metal all around. It doesn’t feel warm and cosy, instead it feels cold and basic in nature. That is far from the feeling you want to experience in your campervan.

This list gives you an idea of all the cosmetic changes we hope to achieve in this phase:

  • Removal of Bulkhead welded bolt points
  • Removal of dirty and worn builders floor
  • replacement of floor with oak vinyl flooring
  • insulation of floor, walls and door
  • sound deadening of floor, walls and door including wheel arches
  • Improving the sound / reducing the clank of the doors when closing them
  • relocation of electrics
  • external port for electric hookup
  • treating exposed metal
  • Addition of a Projector screen and projector

In the coming weeks we will share with you the successes, failures and progress of this exciting phase.

Here you can see the mangled metal bulkhead bottom tab. We removed it with an angle grinder.

Stay tuned!
